WHAT MAKES MR. EXCITED EXCITED? – A PASSION FOR CLASSIC CARS AND TO LOVE LIFE EVERYDAY.

Anyone who has been to a Coffee and Cars show in the outer East Melbourne suburbs will no doubt have noticed a mid-forties gentleman with a video camera always primed and loaded talking excitedly to proud classic car owners about their own particular pride and joy. That person would be Glen Higginson, better known as MR. EXCITED because that is exactly who he is. When you engage in conversation with Glen you cannot help but get swept along with his level of energy, enthusiasm and obvious passion for classic cars, like his very own 1958 Chevrolet Biscayne. Excitement is also part of his family, often seen cruising the Yarra Valley with

partner Kate by his side and of course their son Cody in the back seat.

Glen wanted to share his passion with as many people as possible and to bring that aim into reality a few years ago he set up his own Facebook page, Mr. Excited & Friends – Classic Cars Worldwide. Glen is now also on Instagram as Mr Excited, Classic Cars and on You Tube as Mr Excited. When asked how the name Mr Excited came about he explains that over five years ago a friend saw him taking photos at a car show and remarked that he was always excited to which Glen replied “Wow! I am Mr. Excited.” The name stuck.

Glen says “Mr. Excited is all about family and friends, love life everyday and make people smile and stay excited. I am super passionate about the history of classic cars. I love all makes and models and I love the excitement of seeing old cars, videoing them and bringing them to my followers. My aims and objectives are to show people all over the world all sorts of classic cars and their history. I am hoping to have my own TV show, travel overseas to car shows and events, help with charities, see private car collections, make videos and for my family to join my ride. My interest in cars actually started when I was playing with my toy cars when I was about three years old but the main impetus to start all this was a few years ago when my father passed away and I needed to be myself, Mr. Excited.”

Glen’s first car was a 1996 VS Holden Commodore and his first classic cars were a 1982Holden VH Commodore Wagon and a 1974 Holden HQ Premier.

Glen’s current classic car, a very popular exhibit at many local car shows, is a red 1958 Chevrolet Biscayne. “I’ve always loved Chevrolet’s “ says Glen.

“What is so special and unique about this one is that it is a right hand drive Australian factory-built model with Holden tags. It has an Australian history, not USA. It was assembled at the General Motors Holden plant in Port Melbourne, Victoria. The colour is actually red and white Holden FC colour. It has a factory original Blue Flame 6 motor and is a three speed manual. All the chrome is totally original and has never been re-done, only cleaned. I love the 1950’s styling and the 1958 model is not very common. I purchased it from a dealer in Ringwood, Victoria and have spent about $5 K to get everything up to speed. I have only recently got it running after sorting out some of the electrics. I have fitted new brakes and wheels but did not need to work on the body at all.”

Glen really enjoys driving his Chevrolet Biscayne and says “it feels like driving in the 1950’s. It feels like a ship on water, not rough, just flows over the road. At the start it wasn’t easy to drive because of its massive size and no power steering. Now I’m very used to it and love driving it. Really feels like you are stepping back in time!”

Glen leads an incredibly busy life and is actively involved in helping with car shows and events including sometimes acting as Master of Ceremonies. He regularly films and interviews other classic car owners and private car collections and is available for hire for car events, promotional and business events.

To keep up to date with the classic car industry Glen attends about 20  car shows a  year and rates Kingpin Kuztums events highly. He networks with many different car clubs all over Victoria and also reads trade magazines particularly Just Cars and Street Machine.

Glen is extremely grateful for the level of support from his many followers and especially his sponsors who currently include J C Classic Car Restorations, Car Art, Capturing Classics Photography and Amazing Coffee.

There is much happening in the future for Mr. Excited to get even more excited about. “I am currently filming episodes with J C Classic Car Restorations for a  Ford XA Tribute Build with more to come” he says.

Apart from the possibility of his own TV show Glen is planning to have his own car events and maybe a cruise for classic car enthusiasts. High on the agenda are  overseas trips to major car events.

Locally Glen intends to be involved in lots of community fund raising car shows for local businesses and the Country Fire Authority. A major project currently in the planning stage is the opening of a car museum in Pakenham, Victoria. There are certainly exciting times ahead for Mr. EXCITED.
